Senator Heath welcomes Smart Balance move to Colorado
“This is wonderful news for Boulder and for Colorado,” said Heath. “Having corporate headquarters in Boulder will obviously bring economic activity to the region, and it also sounds like the business should fit in perfectly, given Boulder’s already strong presence in the natural foods industry.” The Smart Balance, Inc. reorganization includes the establishment of two separate business segments – one that will focus on products such as spreads, butter, grocery and milk, and another focusing largely on breads and plant-based dietary products. Smart Balance, Inc. recently acquired Udi’s Healthy Foods, a popular Denver-based company. Between Udi’s and Glutino, another Smart Balance holding, the company has become a leader in sales of gluten-free products. Steve Hughes, chairman and CEO of Smart Balance, Inc., offered the following statement about the announcement: “The establishment of two business segments and the relocation of our corporate headquarters to Boulder, CO, the Silicon Valley of natural foods, is consistent with our long-term view of the Company and will allow us to plan and execute on our strategy more effectively. Our mission is to become the leading health and wellness company building out and acquiring natural brands,” said Hughes. | Search |
