Governor Signs bill by Senator Schwartz to help farming families keep their land

Colorado State Senator Gail SchwartzGLENWOOD SPRINGS – Today, Governor John Hickenlooper signed House Bill 1042 into law in a ceremony in Glenwood Springs. This legislation, sponsored by Senator Gail Schwartz (D-Snowmass) and Representative Sal Pace (D-Pueblo), will help preserve family farms across the state. House Bill 1042 will create an income tax credit to help farming families who have inherited land afford the estate taxes they incur.

Senator Schwartz offered the following comment on House Bill 1042 today:

"This tax credit for estate inheritance taxes is one of the most important efforts to preserve long term family farms and ranches in Colorado. I enjoyed working with Representative Pace and the Colorado agriculture community to get this bill passed unanimously out of the senate."
