Senator Hodge Holds Town Hall to Support Local Business Today

Colorado State Senator Mary HodgeDENVER – Today, Senator Mary Hodge (D-Brighton) hosted a community event in Brighton to help small businesses owners strengthen and expand their businesses.  The event entitled a “Guide to Small Business Growth” provided existing and future business owners with information about the vital and free services available to help them start or grow.  Senator Hodge invited key organizations involved in economic development in the area to present information about local business consultation, how to find qualified employees, useful marketing tools and strategies for continued success.

The “Guide to Small Business Growth” featured presenters included The Adam’s County Economic Development Group, SCORE Colorado, and PTAC (Procurement or Technical Assistance Centers) Colorado.  Senator Hodge also spoke on behalf of Connect Colorado as well The Brighton Small Business Development Center.  Connect Colorado is a free service that connects job seekers and employers to aide them in finding the right match, and The Brighton Small Business Development Center provides business owners with free counseling and training.

Senator Hodge offered the following comment on the event:

“This is the second time I have hosted the “Guide to Small Business Growth” in my district. As a small business owner I understand the challenges they can sometimes face.   This event is a great opportunity for me to provide a service for my local business owners and connect with my constituents.”

The “Guide to Small Business Growth” is part of a series of town halls Senator Hodge will be holding focusing on supporting small businesses and their employees, workforce development, and helping Coloradans find employment. Senator Hodge has been a long time small business owner, and has been active with the Brighton Chamber of Commerce as well as the Adam’s County Economic Development Center.

Increase marketing efforts in other states
Improve education and training for workers
Provide grants to businesses in growing industries
Offer tax breaks to businesses
