Statement from Senate President Shaffer on tenth anniversary of 9/11

Saturday, September 10 2011

DENVER— Senate President Brandon Shaffer (D-Longmont) offered the following comment today on the tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks:

“The tenth anniversary of the September 11th attacks is an opportunity to pause and reflect. As we remember the unspeakable tragedies of that day, the senseless loss of life and the overwhelming sacrifices of so many, I hope that we draw closer together as a nation. What happened on that day ten years ago not only revealed the true character of the American spirit, but it invigorated a new sense of togetherness, common purpose and community.

“As we remember those who lost their lives in New York, Pennsylvania and at the Pentagon, and the men and women of the U.S. military who went to war, I hope we honor their sacrifices not only through memory and ceremony, but that we honor them with action. May we honor them by continuing to build a better nation.”
